On this internship I worked studying the effect of lignin without surface modification on the synthesis of poly(methyl methacrylate) via polymerization by miniemulsion. The use of lignin improved thermal stability and mechanical properties of the polymer.
Final project to receive the title of Chemical Engineer. I studied alternative steps on the conventional methodology for the production of cellulose nanocrystals. The project based on using cotton as raw material and the hydrolysis with sulfuric acid.
As an undergrad student I worked with Dr. Fábio de Ávila Rodrigues on "Modeling and Simulation of Furfural Production from Xylose" using the software Aspen HYSYS.
I worked with Dr. Richard M. Osgood Jr. and Dr. Denis V. Potapenko on two different projects:
This work resulted in the publication of a scientific paper.
I prepared presentations, chemical experiments and activities to help increase the interest of high school students in the Chemistry field.
I led exercise classes and helped students to study for the exams/solve exercises lists.
