As a Family Services Worker Specialist, I am responsible for performing investigative and differential response duties, providing supportive, protective, foster care, and adoptive services for abused or neglected children, and opening and supporting resource homes at a higher level of proficiency than a traditional Family Service Worker as a result of previous experience or other professional background in a similar field

Other Job Duties as assigned include: developing case plans to establish goals, objectives, tasks, and time frames for all parties involved in a case; investigate or initiate a differential response for suspected child abuse and neglect complaints; assigned to assist or otherwise work in counties outside of their official station; Visits parents on a regular basis to monitor progress toward case objectives; Intervene in crisis situations, removes the child from the home if the situation is life threatening and arranges for temporary placement in resource homes or treatment facilities; Prepare court reports for custody hearings and presents testimony when necessary; Attend or conduct staff meetings to discuss investigative findings and observations and to develop and monitor case plans; Conduct home studies as needed; Recruit resource families and support traditional and kinship resource home placements; Act as lead worker by assigning and reviewing work, mentoring new employees (e.g., supporting new staff in decision making, where to find resources, how to complete encumbrances, travel reimbursement, and other forms, etc.), and providing input on employee evaluations as needed; Facilitate Safety Organized Practice (SOP) Deep Dives and related coaching activities; Provide counseling and guidance to clients in defining their needs, interests, and courses of action and refers clients to other professionals, agencies, services, or community resources appropriate to client's problems; Participate on workgroups at the local and state level; Represents the agency at the direction of his or her supervisor at community meetings such as Multidisciplinary Teams, The CALL, Project Zero, and other recruitment partner events and provides updates to supervisor; Serve as a champion in agency implementation and training efforts; Serve as an office leader regarding the use of SafeMeasures and assists supervisor with monitoring SafeMeasures, Every Day Counts data, and other management reports; Act as a peer reviewer in Quality Service Peer Reviews (QSPRs) and other continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes
