Leadership role amongst the Museum of Discovery’s summer camps in charge of one of four classrooms. My role involved, brainstorming, preparing and facilitating multiple science-related demos for campers, keeping track and maintaining the safety of 16 summer campers and 4 teen volunteers, doing proper first-aid in need of an emergency, and generally keeping a group of kids aged from 5-12 entertained throughout an entire week.
Led a student-run volunteering club aimed to improve literacy amongst local elementary students. Organized weekly reading sessions, book drives, and tutoring at MLK Elementary for third grade students; trained and coordinated 25+ volunteers. Facilitated 150+ total volunteer hours.
Conducted microbiology research with Dr. En Huang and Dr. Moon, studying bacteriophages and antibiotic-resistant (ESBL) bacteria in local produce. Presented findings at multiple fairs and conferences (Arkansas Stem and Engineering Fair 2024, MAMCOAANA Medical Conference).
Accepted into a selective two-week premedical program with hands-on exposure to various medical fields. In addition, worked 80 clinical volunteer hours, assisting in the ER and neurology with trauma and stroke patient care through attending call lights.
