Using JProfiler, I was able to determine key improvement points to help us achieve better performance times in our order routing system: reducing unnecessary database calls, and improving our own in-built entity cache manager. This made our application go from an average of 200 milliseconds per order to 60 milliseconds per order on average.
- Built a custom load balancer that was capable of determining the number of threads to be used based on the hardware the application was currently running on, and concurrently processing market messages, helping to vastly improve the performance of said messages.
